I am currently undertaking a PhD in artistic research at the Royal College of Art in London. Working from my home studio, I explore the materiality of silk to contribute to health and healing discourses within the broader fields of applied and contemporary art practice.
As a visual artist and researcher, I use silk to register shivers, shudders, and shimmers. Attentive to the material, metaphysical, and mystical ties that knot mind, body, and environment, I fray silk, unraveling affect through repetitive, meditative motions.
Moments, memories, problems, and places* are patched together through an auto-theoretical weaving of materials, imagery, writing, and reading into poetic explorations of dis-ease. Affectively moved by the radical healing potential of silk and craft techniques, I seam embodied experiences with the inherent vitality of materials to explore the porous thresholds between solid/ethereal and self/other. Tender compositions of silk fabric, fiber, and other natural materials are arranged into sensual, spatial, and temporal reflections on embodied experience.
Please find my CV below, and feel free to get in touch for price lists, collaborations, or other inquiries.
